FAQ - Help center

1. Why is there no GPS signal on the dash cam?

  1. Make sure the vehicle is in an open area. Avoid locations like underground garages, tunnels, or between tall buildings.
  2. Check if there is any interference, such as metallic film on the windshield, a radio antenna, or radar detector.
  3. GPS may take 1-3 minutes to lock on to satellites when used forthe first time. Please wait patiently.
  4. Green means GPS is connected; white means no signal.

2. Why can't I connect to WI-Fi?

  1. Make sure your phone is within the Wi-Fi range (about 15 ft / 5 meters).
  2. Double-check the Wi-Fi name (SSlD) and password, and ensure no other devices are connected.
  3. Turn off mobile data, VPN, and any security apps on your phone.
  4. lf the problem continues, please contact customer support for help.

3. Why is the camera locking so many videos automatically?

Please check your G-sensor sensitivity setting. Adjust it to Low, Medium, or High based on your needs.
High sensitivity means the camera will lock videos more easily, even with slight movement.

4. Why is the video mirrored?

  1. Please check the Mirror Flip setting in the menu to see if the camera has been set to mirror mode.
  2. If the setting is off but the video still appears mirrored, please make sure the camera is installed in the correct orientation.

5. The camera shows a "Memory Error" message - what should I do?

Please make sure you are using a U3 high-speed memory card with a capacity between 32GB and 128GB.
Format the card in the camera before first use.

6. Parking Mode Not Working?

Parking mode requires a hardwire kit connection to function.

1. How to Enable Parking Mode

This feature only activates when your dash cam is connected to a hardwire kit (sold separately).
You can also receive this accessory for free through the FREEXAR Membership Program.
Once connected, the “Parking Mode” option will appear in the menu. When enabled, the dash cam will automatically switch to Parking Surveillance Mode after the engine is turned off, providing continuous protection for your vehicle.

2. Two Parking Mode Options

  1. G-Sensor Parking Monitoring:
When the vehicle is turned off and experiences an impact or vibration, the dash cam automatically records and saves a 20-second video clip as evidence. Note: Parking surveillance is activated by the G-Sensor’s impact detection, not by motion detection.
  2. Time-Lapse Recording Mode:
In parking mode, the dash cam captures one frame per second to create a fast-playback video. You can set the recording duration to 8, 12, or 24 hours, providing extended protection for your vehicle.

3. Parking Mode Duration

In parking mode, your dash cam can typically operate for about 3–6 days, depending on your vehicle’s battery capacity and how frequently motion or vibration is detected.

Note: Our Hardwire Kit features built-in low-voltage protection. When the car battery drops below 11.8V, the system automatically cuts power to the dash cam to prevent battery drain and keep your vehicle safe.
If Parking Mode doesn’t function properly, please contact us at support@freexar.com
Our technical support team will respond promptly and help you get everything working smoothly.

7. Device Heating?

It is normal for the dash cam — like any electronic device — to generate some heat during operation.
The FREEXAR dash cam is designed to operate safely within a temperature range of -4°F to 158°F (-20°C to +70°C) and has passed laboratory high-temperature stability tests.
Multiple ventilation openings are built into the top and bottom of the unit to ensure safe and reliable performance under various driving conditions.
Note: For your safety, do not operate the device while driving.

8. Can I Switch the Display View?

Yes. The device supports multi-view display switching.
You can view all four channels — front, rear, left, and right — at the same time, or choose to display any single camera as needed.
Easily switch between viewing modes for a clearer, more intuitive display that adapts to different driving situations.

9. Why Does the Device Keep Shutting Down?

  1. Please first check that all power cables and connectors are securely attached and making proper contact.
  2. Since the FREEXAR D4 is a 4-channel dash cam that requires a higher and more stable power supply, always use the original FREEXAR car charger cable included in the package. It provides a steady 5V/2A output, ensuring consistent and reliable device performance.
Note: If your vehicle does not have a standard cigarette lighter power socket, please contact the FREEXAR Support Team for a suitable power solution.

10. How to Access the Menu Settings?

First, press the OK button briefly to stop recording. Then press the MENU button to enter the settings menu.
Additionally, while recording, you can press the MENU button once to lock the current video file — this feature helps protect important footage from being overwritten or deleted.

11. It’s got GPS, right? How’s that going to help with safety on the road?

The built-in GPS records your speed, time, and location in real time, right along side your video. That means you can map out exactly where and when something happened — a big help for roadside assistance and solid proof for insurance claims.

12. Will this dash cam work on pickups, trucks, and other large vehicles?

Yes. Works with Car, Sedan, SUV, Minivan, Van, Pickups, Truck, RVs. For larger vehicles that require the rear camera to be mounted outside the cab, an optional 1080P waterproof (ASIN: B0FGC7BKVW) provides clear rear views and full coverage.

13. What do I need to enable 24/7 parking monitoring?

You’ll need the FREEXAR hardwire kit (ASIN: B0FGCH5DGR). It powers the dash cam when your car is off, activates parking monitoring mode, and protects your battery from draining. The hardwire kit is sold separately and is not included in the box.

14. Will the included 128GB card keep up with 4K and multi-channel recording?

Yes. The included 128GB V30 card is rated for around 1,800 write cycles, making it ideal for continuous loop recording with stable performance under heavy use.

15. Can this dash cam handle high temperatures?

Yes. It’s designed to operate safely from -10°C to +60°C, covering most everyday driving conditions, from winter mornings to hot summer afternoons. It has passed rigorous lab tests to ensure stability and reliability even under extreme heat.
